Indeed, praise be to Allah who says;
There has come to you enlightenment from your Lord. So whoever will see does so for [the benefit of] his soul, and whoever is blind [does harm] against it. And [say], “I am not a guardian over you. Al anaam 6 v 104
Arguably, some of the greatest and most convincing testimonies to the authenticity of the glorious quran are the multiple occasions on which Allah the most exalted, rightly and pragmatically predicted the future occurrences. The glorious quran, has from time immemorial, be an apposite tool of response to unprecedented challenges that are bound to befall humanity. It left no gap unfilled and has managed the status quo overtime. In this paper, i embark on a voyage of making arguments well- laced with authorities from the glorious quran, and how each of those verses has been influenced by the trending virus the world across.
The outbreak of Coronavirus (otherwise referred to as COVID – 19 ) in wuhan, china in November/December 2019 which started as a local crises has now metamorphosed into a global pandemonium. Apart from the human cost of the virus, the outbreak presents potential disruption to virtually, all activities of human interaction. In a bid to contains the spread of the virus, countries across the globe have adopted stringent measures, with costly implications on relationship of man, such as imposition of travel bans, Cumpulsary quarantine, total lock down et cetera.
However, COVID – 19 does not exit in vacuum, as it comes with a myriad of implications and lessons that are learnable to discerning minds, be it with the continuity of its proliferation or aftermath. This article therefore, summarises the details of the virus and also highlights the lessons therein.
SUMMARY OF COVID – 19
COVID – 19, also known as Coronavirus disease, according to the World Health Organization is an infection disease causing respiratory illness with symptoms such as cough, fever and in mire server cases, difficulty in breathing. It was first identified in Wuhan china in December 2019 and has since spread globally with over 1million casualties recorded since 5 months of its ignition and has claimed lifes of many people. The virus spread through close contact and also by cough or sneeze of persons affected. The World Health Organization has declared the outbreak a public health emergency of international concern.
LESSONS FROM THE GLORIOUS QURAN
Having established the summary of Corona virus as a way of preliminary consideration, as well as implications of the virus on human life, the following are the lessons derivable from it as extracted from the glorious Quran.
1. Man despite his sophistication and advancement in science and technology is still grossly impaired, deficient, weak and vulnerable. In corroborating the above assertion, Quran chapter 17 v 85 is very apposite. And mankind have not been given a knowledge except a little.
2.None but Allah has a perfect knowledge of his armies with which he attacks his creature to remind them of his existence and power and to punish the evildoers. This has been rightly stated in Quran 74 v 31 where Allah ومايعلم جنودربك إلاهو” ” And none knows the soldiers of your lord except him.
3.Reduction of sins.
Since the outbreak of the virus, men in their subconscious mind have realized the fact that Allah is capable of doing anything whatsoever and as such have been gripped with fair, thereby leading to increase in faith of many people either directly or by necessary implications. The closure of bear parlours, hotels and other place where shaytan dwell have call home the brain of many people, save for unrepentant and unapologetic subscribers of these houses. The alarming rate at which the virus increases has given room for many of us to repent and to refrain from committing sins.”
Corruption has appeared throughout the land and sea by [reason of] what the hands of people have earned so He may let them taste part of [the consequence of] what they have done that perhaps they will return.
4. It is only Allah who provide for man. In order to contain the virus, governments across globe have no better options than to impose total lock down on their inhabitants. The dwellers of those countries, most especially, under develop and developing countries such as Nigeria, are left with the question of what the inhabitants are to be eating during lock down as any rely heavily on daily income. Of course, it is a pertinent question because how can the people survive without food? Time and again, Governments of these countries are unable to feed the populace to their satisfactions. However, Allah, in expounding his wonder, has always provide for man despite unable to go out in search for foods and the implication being that it is he (Allah) who provide and cater for the sustainability of man. In Quran 17 v 70, Allah says;
And We have certainly honored the children of Adam and carried them on the land and sea and provided for them of the good things and preferred them over much of what We have created, with [definite] preference.
5.Allah can wipe out his entire creation within a very short time. The manner at which the virus spread has passed the alarming and entered the notoriety stage. Thus, it is evident that the world will surely come to an someday. This assertion has being echoed in many places in the glorious quran, Allah says; ……. Every single soul will surely taste death”.
From the above analysis, it is glearingly evident that the few selected verses highlighted above are not only in tandem with the coronavirus pandemic that is ravaging the world, but also very apposite in analyzing same as it continue to spread. We beseech Allah (S.A.W) to provide a live long remedy to this virus for nothing is ever out of his power, and may we be strengthen in our IMAN, and may we not be inflicted with disease (s) that will turn us out of islam, may he (Allah ) reedem all that we’ve lost to this pandemic for us in the easiest of ways.
